the things you learn

Believe it.  It is friday night and we are watching a Pokemon episode on Netflix.  Why??  Tommy came home for a visit and was telling us that he has been watching some old Pokemon episodes because he remembers crying when he was younger (back in Secaucus) because he never woke up early enough before school to have time to watch his 'favorite show'!  (who knew?)  After we searched Apple TV to find a movie that we could all agree on, we were finally convinced by the Pokemon fan to watch an episode.  I have to say that Disney, PIxar and Universal are spending millions... billions.... to make their animated characters have such intricate and realistic movements and in contrast, the story here is told with simple flapping lips, jerky movements and funny high pitched voices.  And as we listen to the cute little voice of Pikachu, the 24-year-old becomes a 6-year-old again before my eyes. Thank you PIkaCHU!!

So today was a big day - 2 year anniversary of my company AND I was published in a real blog!  Not that THIS blog isn't real, but I'm talking about one for which I was actually asked to write :)  (thanks miss jacqueline!)  Very exciting (and a little embarrassing) and here is the link:

modern family in the mirror

In case it might seem that I was exaggerating about the TV in the hotel bathroom mirror, I took these photos of it.  It's kinda magical, but it does makes me wonder what else is going on in or behind the mirror?

I arrived in Baltimore at 1:30 am last night and decided to 'save time' by gassing up the car while the station was empty. It was a self-service station (not a problem for me who likes to pump my own gas even at full serve stations) but I think the gas was being siphoned into my tank via a straw because it took almost 30 minutes to fill up the tank!  Finally made it to the lovely Four Seasons at 2:00 am and was thrilled to enter my corner room with a lovely harbor view and a TV embedded in the bathroom mirror like something out of the Jetson's.  After a long day of work today, I decided to hit the gym which I knew would be empty at 11 pm.  I wore my 'less than favorite' spandex get-up and headed down there for a private work-out.  When I tried to get back up to my room, the elevator doors would not close all the way.  They also would not open.  Having been stuck in an elevator before (for 45 min and having to get the doors pried open and climb out), I was not immediately panicked so I finally pried the doors open as the alarms went off.  There are 6 elevators in the bay, but no other elevators came so since the alarm had stopped... yup... I got back in the same one for another attempt.  (note blonde mention in subject)  The sequence of elevator events repeated itself so this time I took a photo of the stuck doors for instagram (@themuthership) then pried them open again as the alarms triggered once again and decided to press the down button to get to the lobby to start over.  Though it was now midnight, I was thinking that with my luck, someone I knew from the shoot would get on and no sooner did I think it, when my client with his 2 female colleagues that I had not yet met entered the elevator and I attempted to crawl into a hole taking my sweaty self in my skimpy spandex and olivia newton john-esque headband plus my extra holiday pounds with me!  oh my god.  I wanted to die but of course he introduced me to them explaining their flight had been delayed "hi nice to meet you and oh excuse me this is my floor" and I darted out of there so fast directly into a wall as I realized the rooms were in the other direction!!!  What the hell?  I was frozen in my tracks and I just hovered in the corner until the elevators doors shut so I could head in the right direction and slink to my room to write this down because I guess I could have made this all up, but unfortunately I didn't.  I really know how to make a fool of myself to the 2nd power.....!  So ends production day one.
